ACT TWO

EXT. AIRSPACE ABOVE KEYSTONE AND CENTRAL CITIES

FAST PAN RIGHT, KEEPING A JAVELIN CENTER SCREEN

The Van Buren Bridge, and Flash Museum are both clearly, if briefly, visible as the Javelin flies over the Twin Cities.

CUT TO

INT. JAVELINE - COCKPIT

Black Canary is piloting, Starman in the copilot seat. Hourman and Sandman are strapped in behind them.

HOURMAN
How many of these "Rogues" are we likely to have to deal with?

STARMAN
Just the three we know about, I think. Captain Cold is still in jail, Pied Piper is apparently reformed, and last time anybody saw Mirror Master, he was dead. Although, I admit, I don't know just how much that counts for, in our line of work.

SANDMAN
We should contact the institution where Captain Cold is imprisoned, to confirm that they still have him.

STARMAN
Already done. He's still accounted for.

HOURMAN
Good. What's our ETA?

BLACK CANARY
Now.

CUT TO

EXT. ROGUES CENTRAL CITY HIDEOUT

The Javelin lands in front of a small warehouse on the Missouri river. The Van Buren Bridge can be seen to the left of the screen. Black Canary steps out of the Javelin, followed by Starman, Hourman and finally Sandman.

BLACK CANARY
Seems quiet. That worries me.

STARMAN
Yeah. Let's be careful, but let's take advantage, if it's not a trap.

HOURMAN FLIPS HIS BELT BUCKLE FORWARD, PULLS A SMALL WHITE PILL OUT AND SWALLOWS IT QUICKLY, BEFORE TESTING HIS PULSE.

HOURMAN
Right...we're on a time limit here, folks.

HOURMAN RUNS TOWARDS THE WAREHOUSE.

Black Canary watches him a moment, then shrugs and follows him, Sandman close behind. Starman takes to the air and follows, soon overtaking Black Canary and Sandman.

CUT TO

INT. ROGUES CENTRAL CITY HIDEOUT

We are in an empty warehouse, looking at the front wall. There is the large sliding door, a standard door to its right, and boarded windows on either side of the larger door.

CLOSE ON RIGHT WINDOW

Starman's face rises into view. He's looking into the warehouse.

STARMAN
(Whispered)
Looks clear.

WIDEN, KEEPING WINDOW CENTER SCREEN

The door below the window opens slowly, and Sandman slips in, holding his gun before him. As he enters, Hourman follows, then Black Canary as Starman lowers from view. Finally, he follows Black Canary into the empty warehouse.

HOURMAN
Empty.

SANDMAN
It appears that that the Rogues have long since abandoned this lair.

PAN TO FOLLOW HOURMAN AS HE JUMPS INTO THE RAFTERS, FROM A STANDING START

PAN BACK TO THE OTHERS

Starman, Black Canary and Sandman look vaguely confused as we hear Hourman leaping from rafter to rafter.

CUT TO

WE SEE THE BACK OF THE WAREHOUSE

A rafter falls near the back of the warehouse, Hourman tumbling after. He hops to his feet and approaches us.

PULL BACK TO TAKE IN THE OTHER HEROES, FACING HOURMAN

HOURMAN
Nothing here. And it's a death trap. Let's go.

ANOTHER ANGLE, FACING THE LARGER GROUP

BLACK CANARY
Go where? Did you find anything that suggested where they were now?

HOURMAN
No, but we do know where we can look for information, don't we? Where are the others? Piper and Cold?

STARMAN
Piper's still here in Central. Has an apartment not far from here. Cold's over in Keystone - Iron Heights.

SANDMAN
Let us visit with the Pied Piper, first. I doubt he knows our quarry's whereabouts, but if he does, he will likely give us the information more easily.

STARMAN
Better idea. Me and Canary can take Piper, you and Hourman can deal with Captain Cold.

SANDMAN NODS AND THE GROUP TURNS TOWARDS THE DOOR

PAN LEFT TO FOLLOW THE GROUP AS THEY EXIT

CUT TO

INT. CORRIDOR OUTSIDE HARTLEY RATHAWAY'S APPARTMENT

BLACK CANARY
I'll do the talking. A pretty woman might be better able to get the information.

STARMAN
Maybe not.
(Brief silence)
Well, go ahead and knock.

BLACK CANARY KNOCKS

There is a short pause, and HARTLEY RATHAWAY answers the door.

HARTLEY
Yes? Can I help you?

BLACK CANARY
You're Hartley Rathaway?

HARTLEY LOOKS SLIGHTLY CONFUSED.

HARTLEY
Yes, I am....

BLACK CANARY
Also known as the Pied Piper?

HARTLEY'S EXPRESSION GROWS SLIGHTLY DARK.

HARTLEY
Formerly known as. I'm retired.

BLACK CANARY
Sorry. Formerly known as. I'm Black Canary and this is Starman...one of them. We're from the Justice League...

HARTLEY'S EXPRESSION BRIGHTENS SLIGHTLY

HARTLEY
Oh, did Wa...the Flash send you?

STARMAN
I'm afraid not. Although this does relate to him. He's been kidnapped.

HARTLEY
... Oh?

STARMAN
By some of your former associates.

HARTLEY
The Rogues.

STARMAN
Captain Boomerang, Trickster and Heatwave, specifically. We were hoping you'd know where they would have taken him.

HARTLEY
Uhm...well, we used to have a warehouse hideout not far fro...

STARMAN
We've already checked it out. It's been empty for some time.

JAMES APPEARS BEHIND HARTLEY

JAMES
Hartley? Are you comin... Are these some of your friends?

HARTLEY TURNS TO ADDRESS HIM

HARTLEY
I'll be right there, James. And they're friends of a friend.

HARTLEY TURNS BACK TO STARMAN AND BLACK CANARY

HARTLEY
I'm sorry...I haven't spoken to any of the Rogues since I...uhm...
(Slight pause)
Since I went straight. If there's anything else I can do to help...?

BLACK CANARY
We'll be back if we think of anything. Thank you, anyway.

HARTLEY
Thank you. Please, keep me updated.

BLACK CANARY
We will. Good bye.

HARTLEY CLOSES THE DOOR.

CUT TO

INT. IRON HEIGHTS PRISON - INTERROGATION ROOM

Hourman sits on one side of the table. He looks impatient. Sandman is nowhere to be seen. A uniformed guard leads in LEN SNART, also known as Captain Cold. While he in in a standard prison uniform, he's still wearing his trademark glasses.

HOURMAN
You're Leonard Snart, also known as Captain Cold?

SNART
Yes I am. And you are?

HOURMAN
My name is Hourman, I'm with the Justice League. We are currently on the trail of several of your former associates. The Rogues, I believe you were called?

SNART
"We", Hourman? I only see one of you.

HOURMAN
Others are following other lines of investigation. Now, as I was saying. We're on the trail of some of your fellow Rogues. We would like to know where they are currently headquartered.

SNART
Why would I want to tell you that? They are my friends, you know.

HOURMAN
It would look good when you come up for parole. Which I understand is soon.

SNART
Oh, but I've been a good boy. I'm sure they'll be smiling on me. I'm sorry, Minute Man....

HOURMAN
Hourman.

SNART
I have nothing to tell you.

HOURMAN
Well. So long then.

HOURMAN STANDS UP AND STORMS OUT OF THE ROOM.

SNART
Well, guards, take me back to my cell. I want to do some reading before I sleep.

CUT TO

INT. IRON HEIGHTS PRISON - LEN SNART'S CELL

Snart enters. One corner of the cell is in deep shadow, and the Van Buren Bridge is visible through the barred window. The guard locks the cell door and heads off. As snart reaches for a book, Sandman steps out of the shadows, his gun forward.

SANDMAN
Leonard Snart, your refusal to aid the cause of justice will cause you nightmares, this night. So says the Lord of Dreams.

SNART
Who are you how did yo...

SANDMAN PULLS THE TRIGGER, AND A THICK MIST FILLS THE CELL, TRAILING OUT INTO THE CORRIDOR.

SANDMAN
Sleep, Leonard Snart, and dream of your associates, the Rogues.

SNART FALLS INTO A SEMI-SLEEP AND BEGINS MUMBLING

SNART
Hartley's turned rat... Scudder's in the ground...

SANDMAN
Speak of Captain Boomerang, Trickster, and Heatwave. Where do they plot their evil deeds, now?

SNART
Digger said something about an old car factory outside Keystone... Refurbished...said his new boss payed.

SANDMAN
New boss?

SNART
Dunno...said they'd probably contact me when I was up f'r parole. Gonna be soon.

SANDMAN
Sleep, Leonard Snart, and dream of your friends, and the justice I will bring to them.

SNART GRUNTS AND TURNS TOWARDS THE WALL. SANDMAN WALKS TO THE DOOR AND PULLS SOMETHING FROM A POCKET. IT IS REVEALED AS A LOCKPICK WHEN HE OPENS THE DOOR AND EXITS.

CUT TO

EXT. IRON HEIGHTS PRISON

Hourman stands alone, next to the Javelin. He checks his pulse rate again. A taxi arrives, and Starman and Black Canary step out. Starman hands the driver a handful of bills.

STARMAN
Keep the change.

THE DRIVER NODS AND DRIVES OFF.

BLACK CANARY
Find anything out?

HOURMAN
He didn't want to talk. Hopefully Sandman got more out of him.

AS HOURMAN SPEAKS SANDMAN APPROACHES.

SANDMAN
Indeed I did, Hourman. Starman, I need you to consult the computers again.

SANDMAN BOARDS THE JAVELIN. STARMAN SHRUGS AND FOLLOWS, THE OTHERS CLOSE BEHIND HIM.
